Remote Medical Monitoring and Cloud-based Internet of Things Healthcare Systems

Remote Medical Monitoring and Cloud-based Internet of Things Healthcare Systems

ABSTRACT. I develop a conceptual framework based on a systematic and comprehensive literature review on remote medical monitoring. Building my argument by drawing on data collected from AT&T, Deloitte, Ericsson ConsumerLab, IDC, PAC, Statista, and Zebra Technologies, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding forecasted number of telehealth patients worldwide (in millions), R&D budget allocation towards the development of connected medical technologies today and in five years’ time (%), global digital health market by major segment (in billion $), and occasions when wearable devices are worn across the day (%). The data for this research were gathered via an online survey questionnaire and were analyzed through structural equation modeling on a sample of 4,200 respondents.
