MANUFACTURING THE NEWS, ELECTRONIC JOURNALISM, AND MEDIA DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT. The field of journalism is much more dependent on the external forces than any other field of cultural production (Bourdieu). The new electronic cultural spaces are created by and serve global cultural corporations (Morley and Robins). Television is an instrument of simplicity in a world of complexity (Gergen). Feedback in the converged world of digital communication is instantaneous in comparison with traditional analog mass communication (Pavlik and McIntosh).
