ABSTRACT. A research of women’s situation in 19th century European societies starts with the observation that the political and historical events, starting with the French Revolution, opened a new way for important social, economic and cultural changes concerning the impact of women’s presence on the literary scene, and the emergence of a women’s literary tradition. The present article discovers and explores the work of a number of neglected Romanian women writers and the European (in)visible connections that can be found by mapping their activities and taking into account: their birthplace, their place of death, their marriage with a foreign husband, their living abroad, their position as correspondents for foreign journals, their translations, their writing travelogues. pp. 141–151
