ABSTRACT. The main focus of this paper is the study of the Athenian ideology of law, the values associated with the rule of law, the functioning body of Roman law, the interrelationship between law and society, and the rhetoric of ancient international law. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by examining different aspects of the Athenian commitment to the rule of law, the contemporary ideology of judicial process, the earliest developments of the law of nations, and the primary sources of a law of nations in antiquity. pp. 140–145
