ABSTRACT. Being a fast growing idea in business and industry, Emotional Intelligence has attracted much research and academic activity. Yet, published research literature rarely throws light on the biological dimensions of emotional intelligence, particularly the role of brain in regulating human emotions. This article goes beyond popular literature on emotional intelligence to provide HRD professionals and training managers with a brain theory-based explanation of the neural influences on human emotions and portrays how the neurobiological mechanism affects and influences emotional intelligence in human beings. Furthermore, the article presents an overview about how emotional intelligence training programs can help organizations improve emotional well-being of human resources. pp. 53–69
