ABSTRACT. Compositional canons tend to place the most important thing/character in the focal point and, probably, the center of a painting would be such a position. A basic device the discourse about art deals with is the formal analysis, viewed both as a genre with its own purposes and structure, and as a discoursal strategy serving to achieving other genre's goals.
