UNIVERSITIES AS MOTORS OF THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

UNIVERSITIES AS MOTORS OF THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

ABSTRACT. The theory that I shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the relationship between the city and the university, the rapid expansion of R&D foreign direct investment into developing economies, and the relationship between education, jobs and rewards. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by examining the new competitive environment between universities, the spillover effects of knowledge creation, and the changing relationship between higher education institutions and cities. pp. 26–31
