On female beauty

ABSTRACT. Throughout history, beauty has always been something to contemplate, to admire, to fill you with awe, to desire, and also to reflect upon. Cervantes provides a special place in his writings for the female beauty. The artist’s view of beauty followed Plato’s philosophy, relating it to virtue; therefore a beautiful person is also a virtuous one. He makes use of the literary motifs of his time in his description of beautiful women, such as golden locks, choral lips and pearl teeth. pp. 230–242
