The Jetztzeit in Benjamin’s Berlin Childhood around 1900

ABSTRACT. This paper discusses Benjamin’s Berlin Childhood in terms of its temporal¬ity namely the Jetztzeit which the philosopher theorized about in many of his writings. The first part of the article reviews various approaches to time in Benjamin’s work whereas the second part focuses on the way temporality is configured in Benjamin’s autobiography.
