THE STRUCTURE OF MUSICAL DISCOURSE

THE STRUCTURE OF MUSICAL DISCOURSE

ABSTRACT. Ockelford claims that "structure" refers solely to implicative relationships through which one perceived sonic event or feature is deemed to derive through imitation of another. Storr observes that music can be regarded as a form of communication between people, but what it communicates is not obvious. Gordon asserts that Chopin's pianistic specialization leads to his distinctive style containing many strikingly original elements.
