ABSTRACT. The theory that we shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the increasing levels of power and influence of TNCs within the global economy, the position and role of corporations in international law, the decentralized nature of the international legal order, and the extension of international legal personality to corporations. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by examining the phenomenon of the proliferation of EPZs, the crisis of corporate-related human rights abuses, the weaknesses of the state-centered international human rights regime, and the role of transnational corporations in the global economy. pp. 138–143
